Wednesday August 11th
England Women, who are competing in this summer’s Women’s Rugby World Cup 2010 (WRWC) in Surrey and South West London, will join the Senior England Men’s squad at Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday August 11th for their annual Open Summer Training Day.
Rugby fans can watch England captain Catherine Spencer and her teammates train for free from 1.15pm as part of the open training and family day at the stadium. The England’s men’s training session will start at 2.30pm.
England are hosting the WRWC this August and September with the pool games being staged at the multi million pound Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, and the semi finals and final at The Stoop, the home of Aviva Premiership side Harlequins.
England, who are the reigning RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam champions, are ranked second for the world cup, but most recently defeated world champions, New Zealand, at Twickenham in November.
England skipper Catherine Spencer said: “We had the privilege of playing at Twickenham last year and to be able to train there in front of England supporters will be fantastic, especially just days before the world cup.
“We are all currently training extremely hard as we move closer to our first game on August 20th against Ireland, so to train at the home of England Rugby will be a real boost for us. It also gives some budding internationals out there a great chance to see us in action and pick up some of their own training tips.”
