Virgin Atlantic Airways become
Sussex RFU Headline Sponsors

"We will be working with Virgin to ensure we bring them and our other sponsors real commercial value"

Sussex based international airline company Virgin Atlantic Airways agreed to become headline sponsors for Sussex Rugby. The agreement is for three years and will allow Sussex RFU to continue its excellent investment within community rugby across the two counties of East and West Sussex.

“Virgin Atlantic has been flying sports people around the world to many destinations since we first started 25 years ago. We see this as a real opportunity to support sport at the community level. Having our head office here in Sussex it made great sense to come on board. We are impressed with the commercial way Sussex Rugby has approached this and the way they have thrown themselves in to making it work for Virgin and them.” Said Paul Wait, General Manager, UK Sales, Virgin Atlantic.

“We are extremely excited to have Virgin Atlantic as our headline sponsor. We have developed a joint marketing plan that will bring real commercial benefit to Virgin at same time allowing Sussex Rugby to increase our reach and awareness across the County in attracting and supporting more people in community rugby. The days of asking local business for a hand out have long gone, and we will be working with Virgin to ensure we bring them and our other sponsors real commercial value for their ongoing support.” said Dr. Roger Edmondson, President Sussex RFU.

The Army Sponsor Sussex U20

The Army has agreed to co-sponsor Sussex U20 alongside the County’s headline sponsor Virgin Atlantic Airways. The Army has previously sponsored the squad. “Rugby has always had a very positive attitude within any local community. Rugby and Army seem to be just a natural fit, we are always keen to attract sportsmen and women into a career with the Army and the opportunity to be connected with this group of players projects the right sort of messages for us.” Said Paul Colley, Marketing Manager, The British Army, South and South East.

Dr. Roger Edmondson, Sussex RFU President said “It’s great to have such a high profile organisation such as The Army supporting our U20 squad. We have been very fortunate in these difficult times to be attracting such high profile brands and I think that reflects well on everyone connected with community rugby.”
