Strategic Partners to Sussex Rugby

The City of Brighton and Hove, is the home of one of the oldest Rugby clubs in the world, Brighton Football Club (RFU) - because they started playing in 1868, before the Football Association (Soccer) was founded, they retain the title "Football Club" in their name. Several other Sussex Clubs were also in existence in the 1880's and Brighton, Worthing and Hastings formed the Sussex Rugby Football Union in 1883. Our most recent members - Horley RFC and 1066 Conquerors RFC joined in 2008. The ancient County of Sussex was later divided into the administrative areas of West Sussex, East Sussex and the City of Brighton & Hove.

There are 40 Clubs in membership, in most towns and many villages, together with three Universities at Sussex, Brighton (including their Eastbourne campus), and Chichester.
