                            IMPORTANT NOTICE
At last we have concluded the U17 Round Robin Matches; Results and Table below.

My apologies for the delay in publishing these but, although the first three positions were clear and equitably arrived at, I have been struggling with the concept of a team finishing 4th having only played one match, which it lost, whilst the team finishing 5th played all of their matches, won two and lost one, yet finished one point behind.

I have now arrived at a decision that I trust you will believe to be an equitably resolution to the problem, to determine who should contest the 3rd/4th Play-off Match and the right to represent the County in the National Competition.

Neither side is committed to a League Match on the 8th January 2012 and therefore LEWES will play CRAWLEY at U17 level on that date to determine the fourth finalist. This match takes precedence over any friendly matches arranged for that date. As Lewes finished one point ahead of Crawley, only by virtue of two bonus points gained in matches that their opposition cancelled, they will have home advantage. Only in this way can we be sure that the best four teams at U17 go forward to represent the County in the National Competition.

Structure for 2011/12
Based on the U 16 Final League positons from last season, all teams have been placed into one of 4 Pools.
Each team within the Pool will play each other, as well as one match against opposition from another Pool.
The results from these matches will be collated into a League Table, from which the top 6 teams will progress to the Trophy competition (and from which the 4 teams to represent Sussex will ultimately be selected).
The next 6 will progress to the Vase competition.
The Finals will take place between the top sides in each Competition to decide the ultimate outcomes.

Sussex Youth Regulations will apply -
The additional following Rule will pertain in the Finals:
'If the scores should be equal at the end of the match, the team that has scored the most tries, conversions, penalties, dropped goals, in that order of priority, shall be deemed the winner.   If this calculation does not produce a result, a kicking competition will decide the winner.
