Sussex Referees Appointment Changes | <Newer | Older> |
Sussex Society of Rugby Football Union Referees
The Society is introducing a new way of appointing referees and assessors for season 2011-12. We have signed up to the 'Who's the Ref' system which will allow clubs to advise of fixtures, request referees and be notified electronically of appointments. At the start of the process telephone contact will inevitably be prevalent but as everyone gets used to the system electronic contact will become the primary form of communication.
In order to make the system work some knowledge is required and this is best explained by answering the following frequently asked questions.
What do I have to do immediately?
You need to log on to www.whostheref.com The email address of the senior and junior contact in each club has already been loaded. Use your email address to log on and you will be prompted to say that you are a new user. Follow the instructions and you will receive a password via email. When you have this PLEASE SELECT AND UPDATE YOUR CLUB DETAILS

How will I know who the referee is for my club’s fixtures?
The nominated referee contacts at each club have already been loaded onto the system. This contact will receive an email advising of the referee’s name and contact details at least 72 hours before any fixture.
Where else can I obtain contact details for referees?
Contact details are available on the Sussex Society website www.ssrfur.com They are also printed in the Sussex RFU Handbook.
What do I do when I am notified of the name of the referee?
The referee contact must contact the referee to confirm all arrangements
What do I do if the arrangements for the match change?
Contact the referee directly as soon as the arrangements change. Clubs must also advise the appropriate appointments secretary; this can be done by email for information only. The principle contact must be between club and referee directly.
