  • Key responsibilities

The appointments process is overseen by the Director of People Development (DoPD) and subject to oversight by the Director of Governance and Constituent Clubs.

 

Each Director is responsible for their directorate’s organisational structure which should be developed in consultation with the DoPD and the People Group (PG).

  • Advertising vacancies

    Details of all SRFU vacancies will be:

    • Posted on the SRFU website.
    • Emailed to all SRFU Clubs seeking nominations and applications.
    • Advertised on social media (e.g. Facebook and Twitter)
    • Advertised on Third-Party Volunteer recruitment sites.
  • Appointment of Board Members

    • All Board roles will have a formal Role Description developed by the DoPD and the PG and signed off by the SRFU Board.
    • The Interview Panel for SRFU Board appointments will be chaired by the DoPD and will be made up of the DoPD and at least two other members drawn from the Appointments Panel (AP) and/or the PG. Interviews can be held face to face or virtually. 
    • The name of the candidate chosen for the role by the Interview Panel will be communicated by the DoPD to the SRFU Board for endorsement. 
    • The SRFU Board will be the appointing body.

  • Appointment of Direct Reports to Directors (L2)

    All Level 2 roles will have a formal Role Description developed by the respective Director in consultation with the DoPD and the PG.

    • The Interview Panel for Level 2 roles will be chaired by the Director within whose directorate the role will operate and be made up of the Director and at least two other members drawn from the AP and/or the PG. Interviews can be held face to face or virtually.

    • The name of the candidate chosen for the role by the Interview Panel will be communicated to the DoPD for endorsement. 


  • Appointment of roles below L2

    • For roles below Level 2 a simple role description with key deliverables should be developed and signed off by the relevant director, with input from the AP and/or the PG as necessary. 
    • Interviews for roles below Level 2 will be chaired by the Director within whose directorate the role will operate and be made up of the Director and the SRFU Manager that the individual will be directly working with.
    • The name of the candidate chosen for the role by the Interview Panel will be communicated to the DoPD for endorsement. 

  • Single Candidate Applications

    When only a single candidate shows interest in a post and the appropriate Director wants to appoint them to the role, they must provide the DoPD and the PG with evidence that the individual meets the criteria set out in the Job Description or Role Description. If the review confirms that the candidate meets the criteria the DoPD will endorse the appointment.
